Woman Uses .40 Caliber Handgun On Crazed Boyfriend, But She May Be The One Going To Jail

As most people were preparing to ring in the new year on Sunday, Tonya Wooten stood frightened in her apartment in Brownsville, Brooklyn as her ex-boyfriend threatened and her and began breaking down the door.

The New York Daily News reported that 30-year old Marlon Womack knocked down his ex-girlfriend’s door and found Wooten standing in the threshold with a .40 caliber handgun. She shot multiple times, hitting Womack in the neck.

Womack was rushed to the hospital and is in stable condition. The New York Police Department said he has an extensive criminal record.

Despite Womack’s threats and breaking into Wooten’s house, she may be the one who ends up facing jail time. The 52-year old woman’s handgun was licensed in her native North Carolina but not in New York City, which has very restrictive gun laws.

She was taken into custody and charges are pending.
