Don Lutz, 84, of Ellport Borough, Pennsylvania has been a proud gun owner for decades and sleeps with his firearm underneath his pillow in case something might happen. Well when he woke up at 1:30 AM on Friday morning, he knew it was the time to use it.
A pair of intruders broke through his front door, Lutz went down the hallway, gun in hand, to see what happened, reported CBS Pittsburgh.
“I was in bed sleeping, they woke me up,” said Lutz to CBS Pittsburgh. “Woken up to them busting in on my front door, and I went out in the hallway in the dark, and I met this one guy, and he went to grab me and that’s when I shot him.”
The intruder stumbled into the kitchen where he collapsed and died. The second home invader tackled Lutz, but much to his surprise the senior citizen was able to hold his own.
“Oh yeah, I would have shot him. They dropped the gun out of my hands, It was laying on the floor. I would have shot him, too,” Lutz continued.
Seeing how the senior citizen wasn’t easy to overcome, the second suspect fled the scene.
Police took Lutz in for questioning and determined the homicide is justified. The second home invader is still on the loose.
