Armed Homeowner Helps Police Catch Prolific Burglar

A prolific criminal who’s robbed more than a dozen homes in the Tamp Bay, St. Petersburg, and Gulfport over the last two months has been caught thanks to the work of an armed citizen.

On Thursday night, 35-year old Lupen Font attempted to rob a home Riverside Drive North in St. Petersburg, Florida but the homeowner was waiting, reported WFLA8.

The homeowner confronted Font, who had just robbed him a few weeks earlier. When Font tried to escape, the homeowner shot at him, hitting his car. The commotion alerted neighbors and the police caught Font, who was only able to make it a few blocks before being arrested.

Police records showed that Font was out on probation for committing a string of robberies just last year.
